What Happens To Sprinkles In a Pressure Cooker?

If you love to experiment with your pressure cooker as I do, you’re probably constantly looking for new recipes to try. Recently, I decided to see what would happen if I cooked some sprinkles in my pressure cooker.

As it turns out, the sprinkles held up surprisingly well! They didn’t melt or change shape, and they retained their color.

The only downside is that the sprinkles lost some of their crunches. If you’re looking for a crunchy topping for your pressure cooker desserts, you might want to try something else.

But if you’re looking for a fun way to experiment with your pressure cooker, cooking some sprinkles is worth trying!

What happens when you put sprinkles in a pressure cooker?

When you put sprinkles in a pressure cooker, the heat causes the sugar to melt and the colors to bleed. This can result in a sticky, gooey mess. In some cases, the sprinkles may even explode. So, it’s generally not a good idea to put sprinkles in a pressure cooker.

What happens when you put baking soda in a pressure cooker

Baking soda is often used as a cooking ingredient but can also be used for cleaning. When you put baking soda in a pressure cooker, the heat causes the baking soda to break down and release carbon dioxide gas.

This can help clean the cooker and remove any build-up of grease or food. However, it is essential to ensure you do not use too much baking soda, as this can damage the pressure cooker.

What are sprinkles made of?

Sprinkles are made of sugar, corn starch, and coloring. The sugar makes them sweet, while the corn starch helps keep their shape. The coloring is what gives sprinkles their vibrant colors.

What happens when you put sprinkles in a pressure cooker after cooking?

When you put sprinkles in a pressure cooker after cooking, the heat can cause the sugar to melt and the colors to bleed. This can result in a sticky, gooey mess. In some cases, the sprinkles may even explode. So, it’s generally not a good idea to put sprinkles in a pressure cooker.

What happens when you put sprinkles and baking soda in a pressure cooker?
When you put sprinkles and baking soda in a pressure cooker, the baking soda reacts with the water to create carbon dioxide gas.

This gas escapes from the pressure cooker, taking the sprinkles with it. As the pressure inside the cooker drops, the sprinkles expand and become more prominent.

When you open the pressure cooker, you’ll see that the sprinkles have puffed up and are much bigger than before.

Thanks to the chemical reaction between the baking soda and water, your sprinkles are now super-sized!

Can you use nonstick in an instant pot?

While you technically CAN use nonstick cookware in an instant pot, I don’t recommend it.

The reasoning is that when you use nonstick cookware in a pressure cooker, the food doesn’t always come out clean.

It can be challenging to get the food off the pan’s surface, and it may not cook evenly.

Plus, the nonstick coating can break down over time, and you don’t want that in your food. So while you CAN use nonstick cookware in an instant pot, I recommend using something else. Thanks for reading!
